Sea Kayaking Courses

SeaXplore run sea kayaking courses from March through to November our courses are one to five days and we will provide you with the skills you need to move on with your personal paddling.

Introduction to Sea kayak

These courses start locally on Loch Leven near Glencoe getting use to the equipment, fitting boats and paddles. You will learn how to manoeuvre your boat, paddle in a straight line (sort of!) and what to do if it all goes wrong. What we won't do is start your introduction with all the upside down and swimming stuff. We might finish day one with a little bit of a wet session covering balance drills and rescues.

The following days will be spent putting these skills into practice on the sea. Learning about tides and how the weather can affect our journey's. Of course there's always time for wildlife spotting and sunny lunch breaks(yes in Scotland!).

Course dates:

We are now getting enquiries for next summer. Please feel free to call or email if you would like information about possible dates or bespoke coaching/guiding sessions.

Intermediate

These courses are aimed at paddlers with a minimum of 1 weeks Kayak paddling experience. We will develop all you existing skills and knowledge of tides and route planning.

Again we will start local on the Lochaber coast before heading West for a couple of nights camping (or B&B accommodation if you would rather).

You will get the chance to venture in to tidal waters and develop some coping strategies for challenging conditions.

Rolling sessions either in the sea or in a pool as well as self rescue techniques (getting back in the boat) will be taught.
